Twenty-two years of sales and leadership experience in one of the largest financial institutions in the US has taught Lisa what it takes to fuel success in a fast-paced, ever-changing business landscape. By building and leading a high-performing mortgage team that tripled sales production from $30 million to $90 million in three years, Lisa accelerated herself (and her team) to the top 5% of the company nationwide. Lisa excels at showing leaders what’s possible when they live and lead with courage.

In living out her own value of courage,  Lisa inspired women from coast-to-coast by riding a motorcycle from New York City to San Francisco. Her 15-day, 4690-mile journey honored Avis and Effie Hotchkiss, the pioneering women who first accomplished this amazing feat in 1915. Lisa released The Inspired Tour documentary.

Lisa holds a Master’s Degree from USF, is a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator under the work of Brené Brown, is Everything DiSC certified, and a John Maxwell Team coach/trainer/speaker.

COURAGE: THE MARK OF A LEADER WORTH FOLLOWING

In this hands-on session, you’ll collaboratively explore the foundation of Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead work and practice the art of courageous leadership. Lisa Brouwer, a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, will invite you into an elevated conversation where you’ll:

  • Define (or refine) what real courage is and why it matters right now in leadership
  • Uncover the barriers of courage in your organization (we’ll do a deep dive on the number one barrier based upon Brené’s research)
  • Explore what’s possible in your organization when you lead from a place of courage
  • Understand and lean into Brené’s first courage building skillset, Rumbling with Vulnerability
  • Debunk the six myths of vulnerability and adopt a new mindset around vulnerability
  • Learn and practice ‘rumble skills’ and ‘rumble tools’ in order to live out courage while having hard conversations

It just takes a small group of people leading, and living, from courage to change an organization, a home, or a community. Courageous leadership, if you have an official title of ‘leader’ or not, begins with you.

FROM ARMOR TO GROUNDED CONFIDENCE: THE MAKING OF A DARING LEADER

Brené Brown wrote the book on courage. Literally. The title? Dare to Lead. She believes that the world needs braver leaders and more courageous cultures, and the way to cultivate both is to build skills around traits that are deeply and uniquely human. Vulnerability. Empathy. Emotional literacy. Compassion. Trust. Shame resilience. These are all at the heart of Daring Leadership.

In this interactive session, Lisa Brouwer, a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, will teach you the number one thing that gets in the way when we’re trying to be brave leaders… and it might not be what you think. As Brené says, ‘The greatest barrier to daring leadership is not fear; it’s armor.’ Armor is what we do, think, or say to protect ourselves when we’re in fear or don’t feel we’re enough. It becomes a 20-ton shield that hides our truest self and pushes us out of our leadership integrity.

Together, we’ll unpack the most common types of armor based upon Brené’s research. Through reflection and small group discussions, you’ll pin point when, why, and how you use armor, and build the awareness to create brave choices and lead from grounded confidence instead. You’ll leave with actionable strategies and practices so you can bravely drop your armor and dare to lead.

NAVIGATING 'THE ARENA' WHEN YOU'RE CALLED TO BE BRAVE

Have you ever stepped into a new place in your life and self-doubt over shadowed your self-confidence? Have you ever been knocked down, landed face down, and struggled to find the will to get back up? Have you ever been jeered at, sneered at, or cheered for while attempting something bigger than you?

If you answered YES to any of these questions then you understand what it means (and what it takes) to be brave.

In this hands-on session, Lisa Brouwer, a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, will invite you to explore a foundational piece of Brené Brown’s work: the Arena. 

Inspired by The Man in the Arena quote, you’ll take a look around your own arena to gain an understanding of the different sections in the arena, identify who sits in each section, and uncover the truths that implore you to step into the arena (again and again).

To bring this metaphor to life, Lisa will immerse you in a powerful learning moment that will surely increase your grounded confidence and equip you as you dare to show up and be seen in your own arena.
