A 12-year Major League first baseman and outfielder, Millar joined MLB Network in April of 2010 and has co-hosted Intentional Talk since its inception in 2011.

Millar batted .274 with 170 home runs and 699 RBIs in his 12-year playing career, which began with the Florida Marlins in 1998. Following his time with Florida, Millar played for Boston (2003-05), Baltimore (2006-08) and Toronto (2009). Millar was a key contributor to the Boston Red Sox’s 2004 World Championship, the first title for the club in 86 years.

Known for his outgoing personality, Millar received the Jackie Jensen Award after the 2003 season, presented annually by the Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America to the player who best embodies the spirit and desire of the former Red Sox outfielder.

Following the 2001 season, Millar was presented with the Charlie Hough Good Guy Award from the Florida chapter of the BBWAA.

Millar went undrafted out of college and was signed by Marlins scout Gary Hughes after playing one season in the independent Northern League with the St. Paul Saints.

Kevin and his family now reside in Austin, TX.

"OVERCOMING THE ODDS TO BECOMING A CHAMPION"

A conversation with Kevin Millar will leave any audience inspired and motivated. Kevin touches on his long road to the major leagues, including overcoming the obstacle of not being drafted out of high school as he wanted to. It took a scout to find Kevin while he was playing in a small independent league in St. Paul, Minnesota in order to get his shot in the big leagues. From there, Kevin took full advantage, as he sustained a 12-year career in Major League Baseball. Kevin also talks in detail about his 2004 World Championship season with the Boston Red Sox, which was the Red Sox first World Series title in 86 years. In order to capture the championship, the Red Sox needed to come back in a best of 7 game series against the hated New York Yankees and win 4 games in a row. Kevin talks about how the team rallied together, believed in themselves and each other, and did the (almost) impossible by winning 4 games in a row to beat the Yankees, and then go on to bring Boston their long awaited World Series championship. In addition to Kevin’s stories of not giving up, overcoming the odds, and rallying together as a team to achieve a goal, he also has some very funny stories from along the way.
