International Speaker, Concert Artist and Songwriter Karen Jacobsen’s speaking voice unexpectedly led to a unique pop culture status. At the forefront of AI ‘she’ gives directions and answers questions in over a billion GPS and smartphone devices worldwide, including the original Aussie voice of ’Siri’.
You likely hear her voice every day.
In real life, through her speaking presentations, music and concert performances, she entertains and inspires people to recalculate and navigate change powerfully.
Born and raised in Mackay, Australia, Karen moved to New York City with one suitcase and that golden voice, becoming an award-winning Singer and Songwriter, releasing 12 studio albums, and has shared the stage with Norah Jones, Neil Sedaka, Toni Childs, Jon English and Christopher Cross.
Karen’s singing career took a left turn, and from that one iconic voice-over booking she recalculated and created her empowerment brand The GPS Girl®, giving directions for life and business with the 5 Directions for Recalculating process. Sharing her fascinating journey to become a voice in a billion devices, Karen’s personal story includes overcoming chronic anxiety and financial disaster.
Being able to recalculate has been key to her success.
Taking her universal message to corporate stages for major events across multiple industries including finance, health, education, travel and real estate, she is a TEDx Speaker and Author of two journal-style books; The GPS Girl’s Road Map for Your Future, and Recalculate – Directions for Driving Performance Success.
Karen receives wide international media coverage and was told she had ‘made it’ when becoming a clue in The New York Times crossword puzzle. Harry Connick Jr called her “hypnotic” on his US talk show and she was named one of People Magazine‘s Most Intriguing People.
Pandemic-relocating to Northern Australia from her NYC home of 20 years she travels to serve her clients worldwide from the Great Barrier Reef.
Karen is co-founder of the Whitsundays Songwriter Festival, and has composed the pop orchestral work ‘Misogyny Opus’, setting former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s misogyny speech to music word for word.
