Biography

On July 1, 2019 Jim Miller was named the Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame/Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo IA.

Jim was a Waterloo, Iowa native. He grew up as the youngest of six children. He went through the Waterloo Community Public Schools and then attended the University of Northern Iowa.

As a College Athlete, Jim Miller was a 2X NCAA Champion for UNI in NCAA Division II, and also a 2X NCAA Division I All American.

As a Coach, he had a 37 year career coaching the sport of wrestling, the last 22 years at Wartburg College, where his career dual meet record was 413-34. He won 21 Consecutive Iowa Conference Championships and 10 NCAA Team Championships. He is only one of Four NCAA Wrestling Coaches in the History of the sport that has won 10 NCAA Championships.

A couple of crazy statistics:

  • The last time Wartburg lost a Conference Dual meet was February of 1993… (All members of the present team had not been born yet)
  • In Coach Miller’s 22 years at Wartburg, his teams finished 1st or 2nd in the Nation 18 times.
  • Coach Miller is a member of Ten Hall of Fames
  • Coach Miller was awarded the National D3 Coach of the Year 5X
  • Awarded the prestigious Dan Gable (All NCAA Divisions Coach of the YR Award) in 2004 and 2013
  • BA in Education MA in Secondary Administration (Both from UNI)

GOING THE EXTRA MILE
