A 10 year veteran of cable news, Cortes presently serves as a senior CNN Political Commentator, building on his prior experience as a contributor for Fox News and CNBC. In 2016 Cortes appeared on hundreds of national news shows on behalf of the Trump campaign, becoming the Latino public face of the electoral shockwave. Steve persevered as a “happy warrior” in often hostile interviews and panels. National radio host Hugh Hewitt called him “the most effective Trump surrogate throughout the campaign, always level-headed.” His former Fox News colleague Maria Bartiromo praised him as “a strong communicator who understood very early on what the people wanted.”

Combined with Steve’s two decade career on Wall Street, his television and political experiences make Steve the perfect speaker to inform and entertain audiences on current events, the economy, and policy. He can speak as either a keynote or in panels, often paired alongside a Democratic personality.

Cortes graduated from Georgetown University, where he played football and was nominated for the Rhodes Scholarship. He lives in Chicago with his wife and four children.

WHAT DOES 2016 MEAN FOR 2018? -- OUTLOOK FOR THE MID-TERM ELECTIONS

As a front-row participant in the presidential election of 2016, Cortes holds unique insight into the lessons of that historic upset. He explains the lasting shift that found its instrument in Donald Trump but will live beyond the Trump presidency, especially the ramifications of economic nationalism, border sovereignty, and the diffusion of power.

Cortes elucidates how these macro movements, while young, are relevant not only for politics but also for crucial business and societal trends in America. Specifically, Steve will lay out the potential of both promise and peril for the 2018 mid-term elections, in light of the changes realized in 2016.

HISPANIC AMERICA: CAPTURING THE PROMISE

Steven Cortes served on Trump’s National Hispanic Advisory Council and became a foremost Latino face of the Trump campaign over hundreds of national TV news hits and many local TV/radio programs geared to Latino markets in key swing states. The head of the Hispanic 100, Mario Rodriguez, called Steve “the most articulate, ardent, and knowledgeable Hispanic television analysts on air today.”

As the son of a Latin immigrant, he brings audiences a firsthand look into how policies have both helped and hurt Latino communities in America.

He makes the case for a renaissance within Hispanic America through empowerment policies including school choice, enterprise zones, de-regulation, and immigration reform.  Cortes also specifically outlines the opportunities and potential pitfalls for American businesses regarding the hugely important Hispanic demographic.
